WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO IN 2024?

NDCS is our chosen charity as one of the Holt Scarecrow Trail’s organisers, Lisa, and her husband Paul’s daughter was born profoundly deaf.

Ruby had hearing aids from 9 weeks old and after assessments had a bilateral cochlear implant operation in August 2014. She was “switched on” with her external cochlear processors the following month and over the years has developed her hearing, speaking and listening skills. The processors give her access to a hearing world, but they work completely differently to a hearing aid.

As a family we have had fantastic support from the NDCS in many ways. We have been able to try out new technology before purchasing anything and their advice for completing Disability Living Allowance paperwork has been invaluable. We have also found their website and social media campaigns interesting with a myriad of information to support communication with anyone who has a hearing impairment.
